100th Day of School Celebration
Forest View first graders have been learning about Long Ago and Today and also recently celebrated the 100th Day of School on February 7th.
During that week, we had a special visitor come to the Forest View’s first grade classrooms. Her name is Takouhi Artinian. Born in 1920, our visitor is almost 100 YEARS OLD!!! The kids were amazed and in awe of her. They asked questions about her childhood and life long ago, as they thought about the things we have researched and learned including communication, school, transportation, home, games and toys. Of course, there were many questions about games and toys, as that holds the interest of all kids.
What was most exciting was making the connections to what they’ve been studying and having a real life person there to extend their learning. At the end of her visit, hugs were requested from many kids who admired our visitor. Takouhi and the kids were all smiles and were both excited to have met each other.
