Join Us for Social Emotional Learning Night
As education and its very structure continue to evolve, CCSD59 is dedicated to providing the most effective and welcoming environment for our students to learn. That is why it is vital for our families to be part of the conversation when it comes to how students spend their time within CCSD59 schools.
The Holmes Cluster will host such an event, a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Night, on Thursday, Oct. 18 in conjunction with Juliette Low Elementary, John Jay Elementary, and Forest View Elementary. Families from those four schools are encouraged to come from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. to learn how SEL is embedded in our school community.
At its core, SEL is a research-driven approach based on the tenets of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Through a variety of structured activities students learn critical life skills such as recognizing and managing emotions, solving problems effectively and developing positive relationships. SEL provides the foundation needed for all other learning to occur.
If you would like to attend, transportation to Holmes from the John Jay and Juliette Low school buildings will be provided. Babysitting will also be offered for children ages 1-5. Please contact your school with further questions.
We hope to see you there!
