    • This song, In the Hall of the Mountain King is about the boy, Peer, who finds himself at this wedding party full of trolls.  The King troll decides he wants Peer to marry his daughter, who is also a troll.  Peer doesn’t want to do this and decides to leave the castle.  This song is played during a CHASE where the King troll and his army of trolls are trying to capture Peer

  • For each colored symbol (like yellow triangle & green square), find some objects around your home you can use like percussion instruments.
  • Here are some suggestions:
    • A pot or bowl turned upside down and used as a drum
    • Spoons
    • Two pencils hit together like rhythm sticks
    • A box of noodles or rice, used like a maraca
    • What other object can you think of in your home that could be used as an instrument…?
  • Assign each object to be one of the symbols (yellow triangle or green square, etc).  If you can, have a sibling or parent play along with you – each of you pick one or two symbols to play!  Enjoy creating music this way!

  1. Make YOUR OWN INSTRUMENT at home!  Watch this video.  Ask your parents to help you gather the supplies and assist!  My daughter and I made a guitar together last week out of a shoe box and it was a lot of fun!
  2. Listen to a piece of music with no lyrics. What does it make you think or visualize?  Draw a picture or write about it.
  3. Listen to a song and clap the steady beat.
  4. Sing a song to someone in your family or sing with someone in your family.
  5. Make up a dance or movement to go along with a song you like.

(Record your best moves and email them to Mrs. Schaefer!  She will email you back!)

  1. Watch a movie and write or talk with someone about how the MUSIC made it BETTER!

6.  Play VIRTUAL BOOMWHACKERS here.  Create your own song!

7.  Create compositions and learn about composers and instruments here!  Have fun!

8.  Play around here at the CHROME MUSIC LAB.  Have some fun!
