Hi 3rd grade parents,

We’ve had a busy week after Spring Break! Students came back with big smiles on their faces and were ready to learn! Students were especially ready to begin preparing for our first experience with PARCC testing. Students have left their devices at school for a “chromebook sleepover”. They are all charging now in preparation for next week. Big homework this weekend- Good night sleep on Sunday!
We have started a new unit in math, we are working on fractions. In reader’s workshop, students are completing their book club projects and getting ready to present next week. In writer’s workshop, we are finishing up our realistic fiction stories and will be publishing these next week.
Students have been planning and working on our class newspaper. They are excited (and anxious!) to share with you our very first edition. Students are still learning about the different tools we can use to make our newspaper the best it can be! This is 100% student work, and they are very proud of it! As they should be. I’m excited to see the growth they make as newspaper writers, editors, and photographers for the remainder of the year. Scott’s Super Newspaper
Good luck to our very own Charlotte Hansen, who will be representing Forest View in the D59 Talent Show tomorrow night at Harper College. For more information, click here. We had so much fun this week cheering on our “famous” classmate!
Quick reminders-
*Monday is Day 5.
*Monday is the first day of PARCC testing (Language Arts in the morning, Math in the afternoon)
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Enjoy the sunshine.
Sincerely,
Ms. Scott
